The Unofficial Wichita Mountains Homepage

The Wichita Mountains have been described as "islands in a sea of prairie". Located north of a line stretching from Lawton, OK west to Mountain Park, OK, the Wichitas are an unusual contrast to the rolling prairies common to the area.

In this page, I am attempting to give an overview of the scenery and wildlife that can be found in the Wichitas. Many of the photographs I have included are from the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, which encompasses over 59,000 acres of the Wichitas, and is headquartered north of Indiahoma, OK.

I have divided this page into sections, based largely on the area the photos were taken.

What's New?

Updated all images to jpg's converted from photo-cd images, with much improved picture quality. Hopefully I will have some further updates in the next few months.
